BAUM REALTY GROUP CONTINUES TO TRANSFORM BUCKTOWN RETAIL CORRIDOR
BRG Luxury Division Brings Four New Upscale Retailers to Bucktown

January 30, 2008

Baum Realty Group (BRG) is pleased to announce the arrival of four new high-end retailers to the Bucktown neighborhood, including Levi’s, Nanette Lepore, Eskell and LensCrafters Optique. The addition of these upscale boutiques solidifies BRG’s role in changing the face and pace of the Bucktown neighborhood from a fringe market to one of Chicago’s hottest retail destinations.

Over the past three years, BRG has completed more than 25 transactions in Bucktown bringing a wide range of cutting-edge retailers to the neighborhood, including American Apparel, BCBG, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Urban Outfitters, Scoop NYC, C’est Moi and Trio Salon. Janika Brenner of Baum Realty Group represented the property owners in all four of the most current transactions completed.

“Bucktown has become the ideal location for both local and national upscale retailers,” says Brenner. “These four boutiques will join a host of other well-known brands in the area and round out Bucktown’s reputation as the go-to retail district. It has been exciting to play a role in the re-shaping of a much loved Chicago neighborhood.”

Levi’s® opened its third Chicagoland location in Bucktown occupying 3,250 square feet at 1552 North Milwaukee Avenue. Headquartered in San Francisco, California, the company has recently been transforming itself by revamping product lines, marketing initiatives and retail store formats. The results have been positive, putting the denim giant back on the fashion map. Levi’s® has two other Chicagoland stores, one located at 600 North Michigan Avenue and a recently opened location in Evanston, Illinois. Janika Brenner of BRG represented the property owner and Lorraine Adney of The McDevitt Company represented Levi’s®.

Nanette Lepore, designer of stylishly chic womens’ clothing, shoes and fragrances, opened her first Chicago location in November 2007. The boutique encompasses 2,099 square feet and is located at 1623 North Damen Avenue. Lepore’s design headquarters are in New York City, where she creates collections that balance feminine details with a seductive sensibility. In addition to her Chicago boutique, Nanette Lepore has six other locations worldwide in New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Boston, London and Tokyo. Janika Brenner and Anthony Campagni of BRG represented the property owner in this transaction.

Eskell, a women’s clothing boutique offering one of a kind apparel for the uniquely chic, moved from its original Lincoln Park location to take 1,650 square feet at 1509 North Milwaukee Avenue. Their new store opened in late in 2007 joining other hip retailers in the Bucktown district. Founded in 2005 by high school pals Kelly Whitesell and Elizabeth Del Castillo, the Eskell clothing line is featured in their boutique along with other name-brand designers and is also sold in a wide variety of retail stores throughout the country. Janika Brenner and Anthony Campagni of BRG represented the property owner, while Katie Kinsella of SR Commercial represented the tenant.
LensCrafters Optique is the high-fashion division of LensCrafters, offering a wide selection of fashion forward eyeglasses and sunglasses in a boutique environment. This 2,000 square foot new lease transaction puts LensCrafters Optique at 1538 North Milwaukee Avenue in the heart of Bucktown’s retail row. The original LensCrafters opened in 1983 and is now recognized as the sales leader in optical retailing offering the most desirable brands in approximately 890 locations in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Janika Brenner of BRG represented the property owner and Alex Mitrovic of Metro Commercial represented the tenant.
