GET READY CHICAGO! HERE COMES HOME FURNISHINGS AND ACCESSORIES GURU JONATHAN ADLER
Baum Realty Group Negotiates The New Lease At The Pinnacle

July 12, 2005

Jonathan Adler, the New York City-based, trend-setting guru of groovy home furnishings and accessories, has signed a lease to open his first location in the Midwest. The 2,700-square-foot store is slated to open in early 2006 on the ground floor of The Fordham Company's new 49-story luxury highrise condominium, The Pinnacle, located at Wabash Avenue and Huron Street in downtown Chicago.

Adler began his career as a potter and has evolved his namesake business into a lifestyle brand, branching out into textiles, bedding, towels, stationery, furniture and handbags. Products are sold in Barney's New York, Bloomingdale's Home Stores, Room & Board and many specialty boutiques nationwide, but the ultimate Jonathan Adler experience is only to be had in his own retail stores.

There currently are five Jonathan Adler stores: two in New York City; and one each in East Hampton, New York; Los Angeles; and Miami. A sixth is due to open this year in San Francisco. Chicago, a key market for home furnishings retailers, will be the seventh location. Jonathan Adler will join Material Possessions, Trio Salon and Henry Beguelin to extend the high-end retail offering along Wabash Street in the Cathedral District.

During lease negotiations, Jonathan Adler was represented by Lorraine Adney of Baum Realty Group and Joel Isaacs of Isaacs & Company. The landlord, The Fordham Company, was represented by Baum Realty Group's Adam Secher.

"When you enter a Jonathan Adler store, you enter a world of color, camp and high style," said Baum Realty Group's Adney. "A visit to his website is a fun glimpse into his world. Among other things, the site lists Jonathan's corporate manifesto, proudly declaring that 'We believe minimalism is a bummer'. We believe it too."
