MATERIAL POSSESSIONS TO ANCHOR RETAIL SPACE AT THE FORDHAM
Baum Realty Group Negotiates The Transaction

Sept. 8, 2003

Popular Chicagoland area retailer Material Possessions is expanding and relocating its downtown Chicago location. The unique retailer has signed a long-term new lease at The Fordham, 25 E. Superior St., where it will relocate during first quarter 2004 from its current location at 54 E. Chestnut St. The new 6,000-square-foot store will be nearly double the size of Material Possessions' Chestnut Street location and will be situated on the northwest corner of Huron and Wabash streets.

Material Possessions is known for its eclectic array of functional, artist-made home furnishings and table accessories. Its winning store concept was launched in 1977 with a small storefront in Winnetka, Ill. Continued success has resulted in expansion to a large store format in Winnetka and the opening of a store in Chicago. The Chicago location was added in 1983 and twice expanded to accommodate demand.

At The Fordham, Material Possessions will serve as anchor tenant of the new 50-story luxury condominium highrise, which is located in the Cathedral District. The upscale building opened this summer and features 227 private residences, onsite parking and 12,000 square feet of prime ground level retail space.

During lease negotiations, The Fordham was represented by Adam Secher and
Lorraine Adney of Chicago-based Baum Realty Group, which serves as the exclusive retail leasing agent for the property. Material Possessions' owners, Carol Levy and Peggy Swartchild, negotiated the transaction directly with Baum Realty Group.
